Chart of Account

1) Two main features of General Ledger accounts are Account No. and
Account Type.

Account number is formed by 4 primary digits and 3 secondary digits eg

2) Account Type is to put the ledger account (transactions) into Reports.

eg Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss

3) Group

Group example – main account number and sub- account number

If there is no grouping, left the group box blank.

4) To add account

Four accounts that must have special code in AMS system : OS, CS, BS, PA.

Opening Stock

• Closing Stock
• Balance Sheet Stock
• Profit A/c – Retained Earning
• Account code is only for remark purpose.

5) Special Account (SA)

Special Account (SA) is assigned for special function or effect on certain reports.

Four accounts that must have special account in AMS system : OS, CS, BS, PA.

• Opening Stock
• Closing Stock
• Balance Sheet Stock
• Profit A/c – Retained Earning
